“Line 28: Cultural Networking Software Platform And Community. Acqaint is a community of volunteers who connects arcross generations and cultures to raise global awareness and overcome toxic divisions in the world. We call this "cultural networking." In 2020, hundreds of volunteers have connected for thousands of hourse across seven countries and 18 US states, with volunteers ranging from ages 14-95. We have also partnered with over two dozen organizations (including non-profit, for profit, and government) to offer volunteer opportunities to their members. Volunteers use our new in-house software platform - https:/www.acquaint.org to engage in one-on-one conversations, facilitated by positive virtual experiences (including for Virtual Reality/XR) as is icebreakers. We started building this software platform in late 2019 and have continued to enhance its features in 2020.”

“Changes to our governing documents: 1) We have changed the organization's name to Acquaint. 2) Our mission has changed. We are building a platform to allow people to grow and learn from each other to bring the world together. In short, our previous mission focused on the technology we are using (VR/XR) and less on why we were using it. See below for detailed description of this update.”

“Updated mission: The mission of our organization has expanded to include a broader and more diverse range of people and technologies while still maintaining its initial purpose. While our goals are effectively the same, we've updated our mission and vision to be more inclusive, equitable, and reflect th heart of whate we do. Here are our key findings that led us to update the language: 1) When we brought VR headsets into senior communities and other organizations, the greatest benefit was the social interaction between resident and our volunteers. The benefit was mutual. 2) The technology and virtual experience were great icebreakers for storytelling and conversation. 3) The VR technology was too difficult for many older adults to use without assistance. 4) Once we showed older adults the VR experiences, many of them wanted the technology for themselves. However, only higher income individuals were able to afford it. 5) We wanted to reach people with impaired mobility, but it was often the most active and mobile people who attended our VR demos. 6) As an in-person VR program, our impact was limited to local scope. 7) When we initially created our remote platform, many older adults were turned off by the fact that we were calling this a program for”
