FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Public sentiment is an engagement design organization building trust and understanding within communities around the world. We structure and facilitate end-to-end engagement frameworks, integrating in-person outreach and applied psychology to bring residents, policymakers, businesses, and nonprofits around the table to create equitable solutions, and the social conditions needed for maximum impact.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

1) brownsville sentiment equity project (brownsville, brooklyn ny): of the more than 30 mental health stressors ranked by brownsville residents throughout the project, food security was in the top three. Issues around affordability, accessibility, diversity of options, and cultural relevance prevented many residents from feeling confident that they were getting the nutritious food they needed. In response, brownsville sentiment, along with two peer organizations working in sustainable farming and food distribution, prepared a plan to address food security in brownsville. Through a six-month planning period, and 12-month implementation, the project aims to explore community perceptions around food insecurity, develop a needs/gap analysis against what service providers already are doing in the community, and co-design interventions that will bridge the gap among residents and food sources. The project aims to engage 400 residents in the research phase, and 2-3,000 in the implementation. In response to community data surfaced through canvassing, surveys, and community engagement officer outreach, the project hosted a series of virtual town halls on covid-19 for brownsville and nyc residents. The town halls focused on issues most important to contacted residents, and connected them with relief and recovery resources from city agencies, community partners, local hospitals, and universities and research centers. Partners included new york academy of sciences, brookdale hospital, mount sinai, and city of new york department of mental health and hygiene, and center for disease control foundation. Based on the responses of more than 300 community members, of which a large portion were residents of ny public housing developments in brownsville, the brownsville sentiment project created a set of wellbeing walking tours to provide nycha residents with diverse, enjoyable, and safe travel routes around the neighborhood. The idea to address on average lower-wellbeing for nycha residents compared to non-nycha residents spurred from research suggesting people experience less wellbeing if they travel the same routes every day. The wellbeing walking tours, developed in collaboration with city partners, neighborhood groups, and residents, mapped out routes spotted with potential activations like exercise stations, book-shares, and beautification projects to create a sense of community and exploration around nycha campuses. 2) bmw foundation - respond program: guided development of respond program's 2022 agenda and priorities through the development of insights and recommendations focused on community engagement challenges in urban planning and mobility in five large metro areas around the world. Through facilitated focus groups and stakeholder research, public sentiment advised the respond program and its partners on mobility and engagement topics needing greater attention and resources, and served as an advisor to their responsible leader network to develop strategic engagement frameworks for piloting and continued learning. 3) mit solve and the trinity challenge (cambridge university): supported program's m&e framework, examining service delivery, adoption rates, information flow, and other key determinants of impact to ensure public health-focused organizations were approaching community engagement through systemic and structured processes that contributed to increased adoption of public health services. In addition, public sentiment curated the program's expert judging and evaluation panel, building on community engagement, public health, and cutting-edge lab science criteria to determine best tech innovations in responding to global pandemics and recipients of over 5 million in prize funding.

IRS990/Desc01) BROWNSVILLE SENTIMENT EQUITY PROJECT (BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN NY): OF THE MORE THAN 30 MENTAL HEALTH STRESSORS RANKED BY BROWNSVILLE RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT, FOOD SECURITY WAS IN THE TOP THREE.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0PUBLIC SENTIMENT IS AN ENGAGEMENT DESIGN ORGANIZATION BUILDING TRUST AND UNDERSTANDING WITHIN COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt11) BROWNSVILLE SENTIMENT EQUITY PROJECT (BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN NY): OF THE MORE THAN 30 MENTAL HEALTH STRESSORS RANKED BY BROWNSVILLE RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT, FOOD SECURITY WAS IN THE TOP THREE.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3BOARD MEMBERS COMPLETE AND SUBMIT AN ANNUAL ATTESTATION AFFIRMING THEIR COMPLIANCE WITH THE ORGANIZATION'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4PUBLIC SENTIMENT PROVIDES MULTIPLE MEANS (MAILING ADDRESS, TELEPHONE, E- MAIL, WEB FORM, AND MANAGED SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS) FOR CONTACTING THE ORGANIZATION TO REQUEST INFORMATION OR PROVIDE INPUT. PUBLIC SENTIMENT ENGAGES A DIVERSE CROSS-SECTION OF STAKEHOLDERS, INCLUDING POLICYMAKERS, COMMUNITY RESIDENTS, BOARD MEMBERS, AND ADVISORS, IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF GOALS AND SERVICE DELIVERY METHODS TO CARRY OUT OUR MISSION, AND SHARES ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND LESSONS-LEARNED THROUGH THIS ENGAGEMENT.
