“Brownsville sentiment equity project (brownsville, brooklyn ny): the brownsville sentiment equity project works alongside residents, local business owners, community organizations, and policymakers to co-create solutions to issues facing the brownsville community. Launched in march 2020 in an emergency response to covid-19, the project has engaged more than 200 residents through digital surveys, weekly working groups, and direct service projects. Through the project, brownsville residents have co-designed the survey tools alongside brain and behavior scientists from uc berkeley and nyu, analyzed data, organized community events, and engaged with key stakeholders. Community solutions include the distribution of new it hardware to 25 brownsville nonprofits to facilitate remote-work during the covid-19 lockdown, food distribution events to address food security challenges, and skills development workshops on community data collection techniques and strategies to bolster local organizing and engagement. Nyc vaccine town hall series: produced a series of virutal town halls on covid-19 virus and vaccine information for nyc's hardest hit boroughs, including brooklyn and the bronx. I partnership with the new york academy of science and nyc response labs, the series engaged 10-times more city residents than similar virutal town halls produced by the city due in part to the word-of-mouth and local engagement strategies deployed by public sentiment's nyc network.”
