“MISSION: Ecothrive Housing provides pathways to home ownership by co-creating beautiful, affordable, sustainable villages with local communities. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Have pilot project approved by the Burien Planning Commission AHDP unanimously. Secured $685K loan (at 1% interest) from the Washington State Housing Finance Commission through their Land Acquisition Program. Found and signed an agreement to purchase a beautiful 1.8 acre site in Burien. The sale closes on February 14, 2023! Valentines Day! Participated in 4 successful outreach events over the summer including hosting our Land Celebration (to rejoice in finding land) and managing booths at 3 local events: Shark Community Garden, Boulevard Park Block Party, and the Seattle Design Festival. Applied to Buriens Affordable Housing Demonstration Program with unanimous support of the Burien City Council. Brought on a number of talended and experienced consultants including a development advisor, architect, civil engineer, grant manager/fundraising assistant, and seasonal event manager. Prepared fundraising language and created a comprehensive list of potential funding opportunities including applying for a substantial grant from South King County Housing and Homelessness Partnership (SKHHP) and support for a direct allocation request through Washington State Senator Nguyen. Kicked off the design process in earnest by preparing a detailed site plan, 3D site model, look and feel visuals, programming requirements for the ecoCottages & Common House, and preliminary ecoCottage models. Created and agreed to a comprehensive pilot village proposal detailing the site requirements, governance expectations, pro forma, and other important aspects that will shape the pilot village.”
