“Primary Exempt Purpose:What we do: The mission of Remerg is to stop the revolving door of recidivism, one resource at a timeWhy we do it: People need a trusted and reliable access point for current verified re-entry information when they are justice-involved, especially following release from incarceration. Institutional efforts are insufficient to help everyone, and many justice-involved individuals do not know about the resources available in their community. Our website program Remerg.com is available as a free resource for justice-involved people prior to and upon release from incarceration, as well as their family members and the professionals who work with them.Mass incarceration policies and practices drive high numbers and unsustainable budgetary growth in many states including Colorado: over 10,000 people are annually released from Colorados state and federal prisons, over 80,000 are on probation, 4,000 are in community corrections facilities, and tens of thousands cycle in and out of county jails. When almost 50 percent of the people released from state prisons or transitioning through community corrections fail to succeed within three years from release, the result is further reinforcement of an underclass that comes at an astounding societal and personal cost to individuals, families, communities, and the state.Inexpensive, scalable, and respected, remerg.com empowers justice-involved individuals with clear, concise, verified, and updated re-entry information for free at any time the individual needs help, provided s/he has access to a computer or smart phone. Remerg.com also utilizes tutorial, information, and inspirational videos in order to reach low literacy learners, diminish frustration, and foster continuity to the community.Statement of Program Service AccomplishmentsRemerg launched a completely revised iteration of remerg.com in the fall of 2019. The website Remerg.com reached 19,800 users for 2020, providing vital re-entry information any time day or night. Also, Remerg launched a program Success thru Connections which mentored seven former incarcerated people during 2020 through the program. Lastly, Remerg advocated with Fair Chance Hiring and was named partner on a three-year grant with the Colorado Department of Corrections and Colorado Department of Labor and Employment to help incarcerated people transition from prison into career path employment.”
