Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The organization is exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501c3of the internal revenue code, therefore, the financial statements do not include aprovision for income taxes. The organization reviews income tax positions taken orexpected to be taken in income tax returns to determine if there are any income taxuncertainties. This includes positions that the entity is exempt from income taxesor not subject to income taxes on unrelated business income. The organizationrecognizes tax benefits from uncertain tax positions only if it is more likely thannot that the tax positions will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities,based on the technical merits of the positions. The organization has identified nosignificant income tax uncertainties. The organization files information returns asa tax-exempt organization. Should that status be challenged in the future, all yearssince inception could be subject to review by the irs.

IRS990/Desc0Ensembles: Actors with disabilities collaborate with a team of teaching artists and volunteer facilitators to create theatre and film projects. Each ensemble serves a maximum of 10 actors with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 15+. Ensembles meet for weekly rehearsals each week over the course of a 6-week or 12-week semester. A.B.L.E.'s 2024-2025 season centered on the theme of INVENTION, with a range of performances and public events.In the fall of 2024, ABLE hosted 3 showcase ensembles that produced Sparks of Invention - a festival of original work in November 2024 at Filament Theatre. In the spring, we hosted 3 six-week showcase ensembles; the in-person ensembles presented two sold-out cabarets at The Understudy, while the virtual ensemble created a series of short-form videos to be shared across ABLEs social media channels. Meanwhile, our performance Ensemble produced an original punk-rock-inspired adaptation of Frankenstein that performed to sold-out crowds April 24-27 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. As always, all ABLE performances prioritized audience accessibility, with pay-what-you-can ticketing, captioning. ASL interpretation, and a relaxed and sensory-friendly environment.Program Metrics: -Total Virtual Sessions = 16-Total In-Person Sessions = 45-Total program hours = 120-Total enrollment = 69-Total Live Streamed Performances = 9-Audience = 793

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0ABLE shares our methodology through one-time workshops and longer residencies for community organizations that serve individuals with I/DD and professional development training for those who support them. In addition to our public masterclass series, in FY25 ABLE was contracted by UIC, Paramount Theatre, The Lyric Opera, DisFest, and Misericordia Home. All Outreach sessions are co-led by A.B.L.E.s Creative Associates - staff members with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This season, we also launched a new partner grant toolkit to support partner organizations in securing fundraising for our outreach programs. Program Metrics: -Total Sessions = 17-Total program hours = 29-Total enrollment = 148Across all programs, A.B.L.E. was served by 57 volunteers who gave a combined total of approximately 1127 hours in our rehearsals and public events. This does not include our volunteer board of directors.
