Form 990

Hopscotch was extremely busy in 2020 due to the covid pandemic. We were selected to distribute food boxes throughout the low income areas of portland. The boxes were part of the usda 2020 covid response act. As a result our non-cash donation revenues were significant. The large expense amount reflects the distribution of all the food boxes. No one at hopscotch receives a salary. We relied heavily on volunteers throughout the year.

Virtually all of our activities during 2020 were realted to supplying food during covid to low income communities, mostly of color. The kids weren't in schoool, where food is normally distrubuted. We set up food lines throughout the communities we serve, which not only included the dids, but their families and elderly in our community. We were able to pull this off because of our many vounteers, not hesitateing to go out on the front lines, and the significant refrigeration space we were fortunate to have access too. The program consumed us seven days a week and didn't allow us to pursue other programs. We felt fortunate that we were able to provide this service to those in need.

WE WERE SELECTED TO DISTRIBUTE FOOD BOXES THROUGHOUT THE LOW INCOME AREAS OF PORTLAND. THE BOXES WERE PART OF THE USDA 2020 COVID RESPONSE ACT. AS A RESULT OUR NON-CASH DONATION REVENUES WERE SIGNIFICANT. THE LARGE EXPENSE AMOUNT REFLECTS THE DISTRIBUTION OF ALL THE FOOD BOXES. NO ONE AT HOPSCOTCH RECEIVES A SALARY. WE RELIED HEAVILY ON VOLUNTEERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2VIRTUALLY ALL OF OUR ACTIVITIES DURING 2020 WERE REALTED TO SUPPLYING FOOD DURING COVID TO LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES, MOSTLY OF COLOR. THE KIDS WEREN'T IN SCHOOOL, WHERE FOOD IS NORMALLY DISTRUBUTED. WE SET UP FOOD LINES THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE, WHICH NOT ONLY INCLUDED THE DIDS, BUT THEIR FAMILIES AND ELDERLY IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL THIS OFF BECAUSE OF OUR MANY VOUNTEERS, NOT HESITATEING TO GO OUT ON THE FRONT LINES, AND THE SIGNIFICANT REFRIGERATION SPACE WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE ACCESS TOO. THE PROGRAM CONSUMED US SEVEN DAYS A WEEK AND DIDN'T ALLOW US TO PURSUE OTHER PROGRAMS. WE FELT FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE TO THOSE IN NEED.
