The mission of the Galveston Bay Foundation is to preserve and enhance Galveston Bay as a healthy and productive place for generations to come.
The mission of the galveston bay foundation is to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural resources of the galveston bay estuarine system and its tributaries for present users and for posterity. Its programs in advocacy, conservation, education, and research strive to ensure that galveston bay remains a beautiful and productive place for generations to come.

“The galveston bay foundation undertook an inclusive process to modernize, simplify and clarify its bylaws and board structure in 2013. It removed the multiple classes of governing trustees and replaced it with a traditional board of directors that still represents the multiple interests of galveston bay. In addition, it created a non-voting board of advisory trustees to support its work.”

“At the end of the year the organization held 6 easements totaling 657 acres (32.04, 2.91,31.39,37.03,42.87 and 514 acres), four easements are in galveston county, one easement is in chambers county, and one easement is in harris county. There were no easements modified, sold, transferred, released or terminated during the year. There were two easements added during the year. There were no easements on buildings or structures that encumber a golf course or portions of a golf course. There were 4 easements within or adjacent to residential developments and housing subdivisions, including easements related to the development of property. There were no conservation easements that were acquired in a transaction described under purchase of real property from charitable organizations in notice 2004-41. There were 6 easements, 657 acres, that were monitored by physical inspection or other means during the tax year. There were 85 staff hours and $4,424 expenses incurred for the monitoring and enforcing of new or existing easements during the tax year. There were no easements on buildings or structures acquired after august 17, 2006. The foundation assigns no value to conservation easements for which it has no ownership rights other than monitoring and enforcing the easement to protect and conserve the property. The costs associated with the foundation's monitoring and enforcement are recorded as expenses when they are incurred.”

WE CONCLUDED THE 2012-13 GET HIP TO HABITAT YEAR BY SERVING MORE THAN 800 STUDENTS (61% OF WHOM QUALIFY FOR FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH) AT 17 SCHOOLS WITH SUSTAINED, MEANINGFUL WATERSHED EDUCATION EXPERIENCES OVER THE COURSE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND KICKED OFF THE 2013-14 SCHOOL YEAR WITH PARTICIPATION BY 21 SCHOOLS. OUR BAY AMBASSADORS PRESENTATION WAS DELIVERED TO ANOTHER 694 YOUTH BY THE END OF THE 2012-13 SCHOOL YEAR.
