Jeremiahs Promise provides broad-based assistance to youth who are aging out of the foster care system or who are soon to age out of care and who would otherwise face poverty and hopelessness without supportive mentoring, life skills development, academic support and career guidance.
| Description | Grants | Expenses |
|---|---|---|
| Youth are onboarded to The Next Step online program through workshops called Foster Forward and Next Step, which are essentially the same type of program but for different sets of youth and young adults. The workshops and the online program work in tandem. Foster Forward is aimed at college-level students. The Next Step is geared toward younger, transition-aged high schoolers who are in the foster system. The workshops and in-depth web-coaching were offered to 327 transition-age teens through the workshop programs. Staff met with youth in person or by phone to further progress. Small incentives were offered as a means to help offset the costs of school books and supplies and other basic needs not covered by grants or scholarships. | $23,467 | - |
| Career Preparation and Academic Support are online programs that are an advanced part of our Next Step program for foster youth who are high school graduating seniors, those on the cusp of earning GEDs and college-level students from the foster system. We offer additional, in-person to local youth to further assist them with interview, internship and job attire and any additional support, such as food, toiletries and gas money, the needs arise. | $19,295 | - |
| The Next Step Cloud-based Coaching -- The Next Step Our Next Step online program is part of a social media-behavioral intelligence and training platform that functions much like a navigational system for goal attainment. The web and mobile app guide youth step by step and day by day to improve attitudes and behaviors in teens facing overwhelming barriers. The nav-style process shows them how to overcome those barriers and achieve more in life through action-based steps that guide interactively until teens have reached their intended goal. Support is available in real time when a youth needs extra encouragement or a more individualized approach. Teens encourage each other toward shared goals through the site's social media communities. The Next Step's built-in metrics track the steps they've completed each day, measuring actual results vs. stated goals and reporting what was accomplished and at what level of engagement. Who fails, who succeeds, why and the solution needed for improvement. This action-based web and app tool guides transition-age foster youth daily, step by step, and task by task. Our approach to coaching and mentoring our youth is designed to boost their confidence, overcome the pitfalls of early childhood trauma, improve socio-emotional barriers, encourage education and guide youth in developing workable relational and career goals. | $8,387 | - |
