“All Trustees, Directors, Officers, and Key Employees are required to sign a Conflict of Interest policy. It is the policy of the Board that the existence of any interests that give rise to conflict be disclosed on a timely basis and always before any transaction is consummated. It shall be the continuing responsibility of the Board, officers, and management employees to scrutinize their transactions and outside business interests and relationships for potential conflicts and to immediately make such disclosures. Board member disclosures should be made to a Board officer and staff disclosures should be made to the chief executive. The Board shall determine whether a conflict exists and is material, and in the presence of an existing material conflict, whether the contemplated transaction may be authorized as just, fair, and reasonable to Long Now. The decision of the BOard on these matters will rest in their sole discretion, and their concern must be the welfare of Long Now and the advancement of its purpose.”

“The Executive Director compensation is based on Board review and comparison data with other Northern California nonprofit organizations.”

“Board members do not receive financial compensation for being on the board. Board members may be compensated for specific services they provide for the organization, such as hosting and curating a public speaking series. Compensation for key employees is recommended by the executive director and reviewed by the board of directors.”

“The Long Now Foundation's 990s are available through Guidestar (www.guidestar.org). All other governing documents are available by request as per applicable laws.”

“The Foundation received a loan under the Payroll Protection Program amounting to $321,000. This loan carries an annual interest rate of 1.00%. The Company applied for and was granted forgiveness of the total PPP loan amount in December 2020.”

OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: THE ROSETTA PROJECT - THE ROSETTA PROJECT IS A GLOBAL COLLABORATION OF LANGUAGE SPECIALISTS AND NATIVE SPEAKERS WORKING TO BUILD A PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE DIGITAL LIBRARY OF HUMAN LANGUAGES. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: PanLex - PanLex is a nonprofit program whose mission is to overcome language barriers to human rights, information, and opportunities. Their purpose is to make it so that nobody should have their rights restricted because of the language they speak. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: SEMINARS ABOUT LONG-TERM THINKING - THE LONG NOW FOUNDATION'S MONTHLY SEMINARS WERE STARTED IN 2003 TO BUILD A COMPELLING BODY OF IDEAS ABOUT LONG-TERM THINKING; TO HELP NUDGE CIVILIZATION TOWARD OUR GOAL OF MAKING LONG-TERM THINKING AUTOMATIC AND COMMON INSTEAD OF DIFFICULT AND RARE.SEMINAR SPONSORHIPS, INCLUDED IN PART VIII LINE 1F, SUPPORT THE LIVE AND ONLINE SEMINAR EVENTS, AS WELL AS HIGH PRODUCTION VALUE VIDEOS AND PODCASTS WHICH ARE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AFTER THE TALK. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: The Long Now Foundation Membership Program connects more than 11,000 long-term thinkers across more than 65 countries. Members from all around the globe receive regular updates on a whole world of long-term thinkingas well as special invitations to livestream video lectures and in-person gatherings. Each member also receives an etched stainless steel membership card featuring their unique member number.The Long Now Membership program provides substantial financial support to the organization, its activities, and its programs. Membership dues are shown in Part VIII Statement of Revenue. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 9: The Long Now Foundation's Organizational Continuity Project continues its efforts to better understand long-lived institutions by identifying, researching, and interviewing multigenerational institutions from all around the world. In 2021 we shared our latest findings with the public inThe Long Now Seminar Series and The Long Now Podcast Series. New research continues globally through a network of distributed researchers, and our in-person investigations aim to return as international travel restrictions relax.”
