The TED Radio hour invites the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak about astonishing inventions, fresh approaches to old problems, new ways to think and create. Science Friday brings an educated, balanced discussion to bear on science topics that are in the news. In addition, FMs local news team provides up to date and in-depth coverage of matters that affect Central Floridians with both short and long-form reports throughout the day. Plus, Intersection, a 60-minute local interview show is broadcast weekly at noon on Thursdays. WMFE offers internship opportunities for college students, which include the field of radio news research and reporting. WMFE-FM collaborates with the Department of Emergency Management and the Florida Department of Education as a critical link in the states emergency network during crises when the EOC is activated, such as hurricanes and other natural disasters. WMFE participates in a collaboration with other public media organizations throughout the state to distribute emergency information from the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) Storm Center.
