We receive regular feedback from our Community Advisory Board and our Board of Trustees. We also engage in other ascertainment activities and speak regularly with members of the community who can advise on the issues they face. Our coverage has been community focused, and our activities include in-person engagement activities, support to our public schools and digital opportunities. We've spoken to several hundred people in person about the issues affecting our coverage area. Space exploration and the economic and social foundations of our nation's efforts to understand the unknown has always been a part of airwaves with near weekly pieces from Cape Canaveral and an in-depth Podcast called "Are We There Yet." But it's our community engagement activities that make space come alive in Central Florida. WMFE broadcasts long form features focusing on education, politics, space exploration and health, environmental issues and more topics of interest in Central Florida. Our most important issue focused on mental health and bullying at the TSA office in Orlando International Airport following the suicide of an agent. WMFE's reporters uncovered a pattern of toxic work environment allegations that ultimately led to the agency focusing on prevention. TSA in Turmoil included town hall meetings, photography and a website to document our findings. Our Central Florida talk show host, Matthew Peddie, hosted various experts, members of the public and political leaders to bring conversations of crime, diversity, environmental issues, and others to the air. Intersection provides the time to fully flesh out conversations initiated by reporting in our newsroom. WMFE continues to be America's Space Station with the only dedicated reporter to the science of the industry and the politics and local economic impacts. WMFE regularly airs launches on our digital platform and interviews with astronauts, scientists and other on our weekly program and podcasts Are We There Yet. The public radio stations in Florida are a collaborative and cooperative informal network who communicate with each other every day to ensure all our listeners receive the most important and in-depth news available. WMFE remains committed to this partnership. We regularly host reporters from other stations on our air and provide news stories to other stations. This partnership is particularly important during hurricane season. During the 2019 season, it regularly aired and provided coverage of the storms affecting Florida. We partner with Comcast cable network News 13 and the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network's storm center. The FRPEN's storm center is staffed by several meteorologists who provide radio and video coverage. We utilize their video on our social media pages. These partnerships are key to keeping Floridians safe and prepared. 90.7 WMFE continues to support the work of dozens of community nonprofits in our region through our on-air and online community calendar. The free service continues to grow as a resource for organizations looking to get the word out to the community. WMFE is also out in the community making appearances and speaking with groups about the news they cover.
