Mission

Brevard schools foundation is the direct-support, non-profit organization which matches community resources with the needs of brevard public schools in order to enhance public education k-12. Bsf is designated as a "distinguished" foundation of excellence by the consortium of florida education foundations. The foundation has provided more than 74 million in benefit since 1987.

Brevard schools foundation helps fill educational funding and opportunity gaps at 85 brevard public schools, for 75,000 students and 5,000 teachers by supporting innovation, engaging communities and changing lives.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Brevard schools foundation is the direct-support, non-profit organization which matches community resources with the needs of brevard public schools in order to enhance public education k-12. The foundation has been ranked nationally for its support of public education and is designated as a "distinguished" foundation of excellence by the consortium of florida education foundations. The foundation has provided more than 75 million in benefit since 1987.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Education programs-school based. The foundation supports innovation in all 85 brevard public schools(bps) by raising funds and directing donor designated gifts to areas that enhance education. Students benefit through programs, such as robotics, innovation labs, science and art fairs, as well as through professional development and training for bps teachers. The foundation directly supports annual study trips for each of the district's: 5th grade students to the brevard symphony orchestra; 6th grade students to kennedy space center for the destination space program; and the 8th grade students to the moore multicultural center. Bsf hosts the abc awards annual recognition event, implementing several teaching quality intiatives and providing the take stock in children program. In 2023-24, new initiatives included programs to help build resiliency among students and staff, and promotion of the new worlds reading initiative for below grade-level readers through literacy events and parent workshops.

Scholarships and student awards 161 awarded (104 senior scholarships, 14 jump start scholarships and 43 florida prepaid scholarships). Scholarships change lives by helping students achieve their higher education goals and dreams. The scholarships for graduating seniors program offered merit or need-based scholarship opportunities. The foundation's take stock in children (tsic) program offered scholarships for income-eligible students who met tsic requirements.
