The council is made up of safety professionals from the organization's member companies. The council's primary goal is simple: make trucking in florida safe. The smc has regularly scheduled meetings which include presentations and key discussions on critically important safety issues and the sharing of best practices. The council supports annual awards events that honor and recognize safety professionals of the organization's member companies. Important smc activities and programs include the florida professional truck driving championships, driver of the year, no-zone/share the road, and voluntary roadside inspections, all supported by the organization's safety professionals.
