Florida truck driving championships - this program is one of the organization's most recognized safety-oriented educational events. This annual event provided fta's best truck drivers an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of safe driving practices and their skills in handling their big rig. Over 240 professional truck drivers having an accident-free record for one year in advance of the competition competed in the 2018 florida truck driving championships. Out of all the competitors, one top winner emerges and is recognized with the grand champion award. Super-tech competition - the fta hosted its nineth annual super-tech competition in march 2018. The super-tech competition provides an opportunity for trucking technicians to showcase their technical knowledge and skills in the area of maintenance and technology. The winner represents florida in the national super-tech competition.

The conference provides a unique opportunity for more than 200 leaders from florida's trucking industry to assemble and take advantage of the opportunity to learn about important issues affecting florida's trucking and transportation industry. The mission of the conference is to recharge the members and help them prepare to meet the many challenges, as well as opportunities, that lie ahead for the trucking industry. The smc offers a wide range of programs to increase industry and public awareness of the importance of trucking safety in the state. The smc has regularly scheduled meetings which include presentations and key discussions on critically important safety issues and the sharing of best practices. The council supports annual awards events that honor and recognize safety professionals of the organization's member companies. Important smc activities and programs include the florida professional truck driving championships, driver of the year, no-zone/share the road, and voluntary roadside inspections, all supported by the organization's safety professionals. Smc works closely with the various regulatory agencies in florida and nationwide, and has been recognized by the federal highway administration for its efforts to increase safety levels in florida. Technology & maintenance council (tmc) - the maintenance and servicing of equipment are important to safe trucking operations.
