“The lord berkeley conservation trust (lbct) is a locally based nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and managing the natural resources and habitat of berkeley county, south carolina, for future generations to enjoy. The natural attributes that make berkeley county a desirable place to live are threatened by growing population. Lbct is directly involved in protecting land in the area for its natural, recreational, scenic, historical or productive value.”

“Lcbt has secured 25 conservation easements as of december 31, 2015. Currently, there are 18,309 acres of land under conservation easement. Lcbt operates a conservation education program that teaches an average of 2,000 individuals each year. Lcbt hosts numerous environmental and conservation meetings, workshops, and forums. Lcbt recently published a fourth edition of the book entitled "a day on cooper river" by john heaufain irving which was originally published in 1942.”
