“Form 990-ez, part iii: primary exempt purposes - the lord berkeley conservation trust (lbct) is a locally based nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and managing the natuaral resources and habitat of berkeley county, south carolina, for future generations to enjoy. The natural attributes that make berkeley county a desirable place to live are threatened by growing population. Lbct is directly involved in protecting land in the area for its natural, recreational, scenic, historical or productive value. Form 990-ez, part iii, line 28: program service accomplishments - lcbt has secured 25 conservation easments as of 2013. Currently there are 17,599 acres of land under conservation easement. Lcbt operates a conservation education program that teaches an average of 2,000 individuals each year. Lcbt hosts numerous environmental and conservation meetings, workshops, and forums. Lcbt recently published a fourth edition of the book entitled a day on cooper river by john heaufain irving which wa originally published in 1842”
