“The mission of ocdc is to champion, advocate and promote effective international cooperative development. Ocdc promotes cooperative development initiatives in developing countries and emerging democracies by strengthening the ability of both member and non-member cooperative development organizations through education and other coordinated activities.”

“Formation and operation. Through the clarity project ocdc organizes its members, conducts workshops and meetings, and engages cooperative law and regulatory specialists to conduct research and publish material that is useful to ocdc members, donors, and development practitioners. Clarity focuses on assessing the state of the legal environment, identifying the priorities for legal or regulatory reform, and initiating and conducting the advocacy efforts necessary for reform to occur. Ocdc also maintains a web site for this initiative through which materials and information are disseminated to a wider audience of cooperative development practitioners, donors, and academics. This web site is: www.clarity.coop impact is a collaborative research effort coordinated through ocdc that focuses on determining how to identify a set of qualitative and quantitative indicators of long-term cooperative business viability within a developing economy setting. Ocdc and its members expanded impact in 2012 by collecting data on cooperatives and developing a survey tool to be used in the research. Ocdc established the cooperative development research and resource center (cdrrc) in 2013. The cdrrc will establish a research agenda for international cooperative development and conduct in-depth research to address critical issues for cooperatives in the developing world. In 2013, ocdc continues to serve its members by performing a liaison function with donor agencies, allied organizations, the general public, and us government institutions. Ocdc works to make sure that cooperatives are included in decisions when designing and implementing development programs and when funding or strategic decisions on development policy are made by policymakers.”
