Mission

To leverage limited resources into equitable, creative, strategic, and comprehensive annual marketing programs sufficient to generate growing consumer interest in the durango/la plata county area and accomplish tourism marketing goals. Generate demand in visitation and overnight stays in la plata county through strategic sales and marketing programs promoting our area for the benefit of visitors and local stakeholders.

DATO is formed to be operated exclusively as a destination marketing organization (DMO) for the purpose of promoting the Durango and La Plata County Area as a tourist destination, to engage in sales and marketing activities, and to provide visitor services to groups and tourists, the role of the DATO is to build brand awareness, attract visitors to the area, inform them about visitor opportunities and stimulate the tourism economy.
