Nhuvahs was formed in 2016 by novant health and the university of virginia health system, and is a regional nonprofit, integrated healthcare network of physician clinics, outpatient centers and hospitals that serves patients and communities in virginia. Pwhs foundation receives strategic planning, administrative and other support from novant health, inc., a member of the novant health uva health system. Pwhs foundation was formed to accept gifts, seek grants, and invest funds to support prince william hospital doing business as novant health uva health system prince william medical center and novant health uva health system haymarket medical center and prince william-fauquier cancer center, llc doing business as novant health uva health system cancer center as well as their strategic partners providing healthcare in the community. General information the foundation exists to receive and administer charitable contributions primarily for the benefit of the hospital and the communities it serves. All fundraising events have multiple objectives: to raise money and provide an avenue for people in the community to support and learn more about the health system. Special events offer a connection to the foundation by participation, involvement and creating ownership in the community. All funding is evaluated with an eye on the impact in the community and how it will support improving healthcare. A foundation committee evaluates all funding requests, presents information to the foundation board, performs on-site visits and follows up on all donations. We are constantly evaluating and updating the foundation's funding priorities and identifying what projects will have the greatest impact in our community. Community outreach community outreach is a critical component to the mission of novant health uva health system prince william medical center foundation. In 2017, the foundation received a $15,000 grant from the cherry blossom foundation for breast cancer and a $5,000 grant from pfizer. In 2017, novant health uva health system prince william medical center foundation conducted several fundraising events, including a pro-am golf tournament and the 27th annual friends of the foundation golf tournament. The pro-am golf tournament raised more than $103,000 to support the novant health uva health system cancer center. Funds help ensure that the community is able to access world-class clinicians, care and technology. The cancer center has been serving prince william and fauquier counties since 2007 and has grown from serving 15 patients per day to 40 patients per day. The friends of the foundation golf tournament raised more than $54,000 to fund the expansion of the health system's behavioral health crisis teleassessment to 24-hour, 7 days-a-week access to patients in each novant health uva health system emergency department.
