| WHAT IS 168 FILM: 168 Film is a Faith-based artist incubator, which includes worldwide filmmaking and writing competitions. We assist emerging artists by equipping them vocationally and spiritually. We aim to make great art for the world to enjoy. We have been a tremendous boost and advantage to our community, seeding the clouds with filmmakers of faith since 2003. We have gotten in touch with many of the good filmmakers of faith in this country and in others, and we have made them better artists by giving them good opportunities and exciting rewards. After over 1,000 bible-based films in 16 years, we are a catalyst for change forHollywood and ultimately, the world. We want to challenge the existing perception of faith-based art, to act as a beacon for weary Christians and to draw others to the truth. The pace and difficulty of our speed filmmaking competition shapes people quickly, driving them toward a better understanding of the Word of God and toward mastery of their craft. The Year 2018:The 168 Film Festival ticket sales were good, but we shortened the event to a 1-day affair, due to the amount of entries. The contraction was due in part to the feature film that was produced during the year. In this film, we see the realization of the dream we have had for 16 years, to make feature films and TV with a Christian worldview. Our First Feature FilmWe recognize that competition is the best way to push people to excel so we created the next step. We congratulate the "8168 Feature Film Pitch Competition" winner and our film's director Tim Lowry, who worked with the producers (Derrick Warfel and John David Ware) and with writer Penny Gibben to shape Christine Fry's original idea into a screenplay in about 3 months. It is our first feature length film under the 168 banner. This completes the original vision of 168, to become a micro studio! The film is planned for release in 2019 and is aimed at foreign and secular audiences. But its foundation is an idea from scripture. "Final Frequency" asks the question: Are all men and women created equal or do some deserve special privileges and have more worth?"Final Frequency" Synopsis: A phD student investigates unusual seismic activity in Los Angeles, leading to a cabal of elitist scientists, who plan to weaponize Nikola Tesla's most secret research to manipulate earthquakes and collapse downtown L.A.Accomplishments and New Directions: KidVids continue to be a vibrant entry category. Whereas before, artists paid little attention to childrens films, now our filmmakers embrace, value and honor this art form. The Best Scripts from our Screenwriting Contest continue to be offered to student filmmakers, who can greatly accelerate their education by focusing on making a great story. The 168 Film Festival At this years 168 Film Festival (Aug. 25), we showed all of the wonderfully diverse film submissions from around the world. The 168 Film Festival Best Film Award and Grand Prize (a trip to Cannes Film Festival and a $10,000 Panavision credit) went to Fhedi, by Producer Maged Hannah and Writer/Director, Anne Alfred from Cairo, Egypt.Fhedi won 8 awards, Best Speed Film; Best International; Best Overall Film; Best Actor, Jeffrey Peter; Best Supporting Actor, Mina Louis; Best Original Score, Samuel Maher; Best Screenplay and Best Director for Anne Alfred.Nine-year-old Jeffrey Peter plays the lead, Fhedi, which means savior. In the film he is bullied mercilessly by bigger kids and finally has a chance for revenge.Additional International acclaim went to Writer/Producer Deborah Browns Italian entry, Leo e Mia for Best Scriptural Integration and Best Actress (Serena Lotito). The Best Student film was Lets Go by Aser Seifu from Addis Abbaba, Ethiopia.Presenters 2018 168 Award presenters joining the Final Frequency cast were four-time-Emmy-winner, Michael Learned, THE WALTONS, NURSE, Taylor Kalupa, LAW & ORDER TRUE CRIME, Cameron McKendry, THE FOSTERS, I'M NOT ASHAMED, Aliyah Moulden, THE VOICE and Emcee Renee Lawless TYLER PERRYS THE HAVES AND THE HAVE NOTS.On hand from the film were Charles Shaughnessy, THE NANNY, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, Lou Ferrigno Jr, SWAT, Luke Guldan, THE GOOD PLACE, Nikki SooHoo, STICK IT, Josh Murray, KILLING LINCOLN, Emmy Winner Kim Estes, CROSSROAD, Abhay Walia, SEVEN ROUNDS and FINAL FREQUENCY Composer, Timothy Williams.Sponsors 2018:We were pleased to have a great sponsor response in 2018. "Brother" was one of nine finalists, who then competed for the right to produce and direct a feature film with 8168 Films, LLC.Once again, Panavisions Michael Cioni presented Indie Tips and Tricks and Film Workflow: a hands-on Panavision 8K Millennium Camera Demo.Roush Media, Panavision, Advent Media and Location Sound donated services.
