DescriptionGrantsExpenses
168 Film is a Faith-based artist incubator, which includes worldwide filmmaking and writing competitions. We assist emerging artists by equipping them vocationally and spiritually. We aim to make great art for the world to enjoy. After over 1,000 bible-based films in 14 years, we are a catalyst for change for Hollywood and ultimately, the world. We want to challenge the existing perception of faith-based art, to act as a beacon for weary Christians and to draw others to the truth. The pace and difficulty of our speed filmmaking competition shapes people quickly, driving them toward a better understanding of the Word of God and toward mastery of their craft. We grew in size and scope in 2016. Here are some accomplishments and new directions: KidVids have become a vibrant, no longer new entry category. Whereas before, artists paid little attention to making films for children, now our filmmakers embrace, value and honor this practice. This is an amazing victory for all of us!The Best Scripts from our Screenwriting Contest continue to be offered to student filmmakers, who can greatly accelerate their education by focusing on making a great story.NEW: The 8168 Feature Prize is a filmmakers dream; feature film production funds to make their first film, up to $250,000! *WHY & HOW: We recognize that competition is the best way to push people to excel, so 2017 168 Film Project artists will compete for the opportunity to win this prize. Eligible filmmakers will first make a short film for the speed film competition in May.Then, producers will be selected at the 168 Film Festival (Aug. 26-27) to present their feature film proposal. Filmmaker proposals will be heard in November 2017 and will include: script, proposed cast, crew and schedule. The most marketable package will win.In 2018, we will partner with the Best 168 short filmmaker to produce our first feature length film under the 168 banner. This completes the original vision of 168, to become a micro studio!!ALSO NEW, 168 Days is a feature screenwriting competition, in which the winning screenwriter will become a Writer/Producer, eligible to compete for the 8168 Feature Prize. The 168 Film Festival At this years 168 Film Festival (Aug. 20-21), we showed all of the wonderfully diverse film submissions from around the world.Festival guests included celebrity presenters, Bill Farmer, the voice of Disneys Goofy and Pluto and Director, Brian Baugh and actors Taylor Kalupa and Justin Cone from the film Im Not Ashamed. The 2016 168KIDS program at the 168 Film Festival was very exciting and free for low-income kids.
