Ndsc resource center - in 2012, ndsc continued its outreach to underserved populations, expanding its contact with hispanic, african american and middle eastern families. Translation at the organization's convention was provided in spanish. In an effort to replace outdated misperceptions with facts about the realities of life with down syndrome in modern america, ndsc expanded its outreach to professional medical organizations, such as the american college of obstetricians and gynecologists, the american college of medical genetics, and the national society of genetic counselors. Additionally, ndsc continued its support of, and outreach to, down syndrome parent groups. Although a membership organization, ndsc provides free help and information to any individual or organization that seeks help, through mailed materials, its comprehensive website and its professional staff at the ndsc center in atlanta. Ndsc expanded presence in social media, as the organization developed a consistent presence on facebook, twitter and established a youtube channel, to provide greater interaction between ndsc and those it serves. Ndsc continued its other contacts as well, such as the governmental affairs newsline, the affiliate e.brief, and the spanish language e.brief.

Activity 3

Down syndrome news (dsn) - newsletter published bi-monthly to provide a review of current events, research and other relevant topics to members. Approximately 24,000 newsletters were distributed in 2012 to over 3000 members.
