Activity 2

Economic Advancement - Assisting women and their families to achieve economic independence through financial literacy programs, home ownership counseling and guidance for entrepreneurs who want to start or grow a small business. Accomplishments: 1,140 individuals received financial empowerment training and counseling; 83% of program completers demonstrated increased financial stability within six months; 950 households received housing counseling, 186 families bought their first home and 90% of foreclosure cases reached a positive resolution; 882 new and emerging entrepreneurs received training and individual technical assistance, 38% of new businesses still viable within 12 months after having completed the YWCA program.

Activity 3

Youth Program - Involves primarily low-income girls age 11 to 17 in programs that build life skills, self-direction, and independent thinking to encourage academic success and lifetime economic opportunity. Accomplishments: Engaged 1,200 young people in 5,500 hours of workshops and individual coaching; 75% of girls increased self-confidence, respect for others, and their ability to resolve conflict; 65% created an individualized action plan with goals that support their emotional and economic well being and preparation for the future.
