Activity 2

Economic advancement - assisting women and their families to achieve economic independence through financial literacy programs, home ownership counseling and guidance for entrepreneurs who want to start or grow a small business. Accomplishments: 821 individuals received financial empowerment training and counseling; 78% who complete the program demonstrate increased financial stability within six months; 427 households received housing counseling; 129 families bought their first home; 88% of foreclosure cases reached a positive resolution; 925 new and emerging entrepreneurs received education and technical assistance; 36% of new business start-ups earned income within the first 12 months after having completed the ywca program.

Activity 3

Youth program - involves primarily low-income girls age 11 to 17 in programs that build life skills, self-direction, and independent thinking to encourage academic success and lifetime economic opportunity. Accomplishments: engaged 2,095 young people in school based enrichment programs; 85% of girls who participated in ywca college and career preparation program completed an individual action plan to achieve specific goals by graduation, and 69% fully achieved those goals by implementing their action plan; 68% of girls gain self acceptance, respect toward peers, and implement strategies learned for dealing with conflict within six months of entering the program.
