Activity 2

The College of Adult & Professional Studies (CAPS) is committed to providing academic excellence to a diverse community of lifelong learners. Students in CAPS are busy adults who want to earn a degree by attending classes one night a week, every other Saturday, or online. Each adult degree completion program has been designed to create maximum student-to-faculty and student-to-student interaction via the cohort model. As of Fall 2011, 302 degree completion students were attending the university. We also offer the program for Adult College Education (PACE), for adults just beginning in this college. During fiscal year 2011, approximately 200 PACE students were served in Wichita, outreach facilities located in Lenexa, Kansas, and Topeka, Kansas. 420 graduates received diplomas in fiscal year 2011.

Activity 3

The mission of the graduate school is to provide a high-quality learning environment for students seeking a professional graduate education. The Graduate School honors its Quaker heritage by adhering to its core values of excellence, integrity, civility, inclusivity and service. Its twelve degree programs are offered in the evenings and Saturdays to accommodate the schedules of working adults. The cohort model is used for all programs in which groups of 12-20 graduate students progress together through their coursework toward the completion of their degrees. During fiscal year 2011, enrollment in the Graduate School was approximately 670 full-time students with 341 graduates.
