Mission

To enhance the cultural life of the olneyville neighborhood of providence, rhode island, by producing public arts exhibitions, facilitating artist residencies and building relationships between artists, educators and the community at large, through educational events focused on street-side public displays as well as lectures, artist talks and workshops.to create opportunities for female-identified artists and other people historically marginalized within the arts.

The form 990 is prepared by the treasurer of the board of directors in consultation with the managers. When it is complete, it is electronically shared with the entire board. The board is asked to review the 990 and provide any comments or feedback, as well as ask questions. Once the board has reviewed the 990, it is filed with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The organization has a written conflict of interest policy as part of the organization's by-laws. The organization's policy states that individuals should avoid placing themselves in positions wherein actual or perceived conflicts could arise. All directors complete a conflict of interest disclosure prior to joining the board, and disclosures are updated annually. All potential conflicts are reviewed by the full board of directors. The board determines whether a given transaction is on fair and reasonable terms and is in best interest of the organization, and then determines whether the organization should proceed with the transaction. In addition, if a conflict of interest exists, the director in question must recuse him or herself from any vote or recommendation regarding the transaction.

The organization does not currently compensate any management individuals directly. Two directors are also managing the work of the organization on a contract basis through an llc owned by the directors. The contract was reviewed and approved by the board of directors, with the managers recusing themselves. The compensation included in the contract was determined based on comparability data, with the directors donating half of the services in-kind.

IN THE FALL OF 2018, WE BEGAN OUR WOONASQUATUCKET RIVER GREENWAY ARTS (WRGA) PROJECT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PROVIDENCE'S DEPARTMENT OF ART, CULTURE + TOURISM, WHEREIN WE COMMISSIONED ARTISTS TO CREATE WORK ABOUT THE RIVER. IN CONJUNCTION WITH EACH WRGA ART INSTALLATION, WE HOSTED A PUBLIC EVENT - AN ARTIST TALK - DURING WHICH EACH WINDOW ARTIST WAS INTERVIEWED ABOUT THEIR WORK BY ANOTHER ARTIST IN THE COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAMMING BEGAN IN OCTOBER 2018 AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH JULY OF 2019.

ARTISTS AND CURATORS BEGAN THE WORK IN 2018 TO BE PRESENTED IN 2019. 69 OF THE 150 ARTIST COMMISSIONS FOR THE EXHIBITION BEGAN IN 2018. $11,725 OF ARTISTIC SERVICES WERE CAPITALIZED IN 2018 FROM THE ARTWORKS BUILT DIRECTLY INTO THE HOUSE. THIS EXHIBITION WILL BE THE INAUGURAL EXHIBITION AT 514 BROADWAY.
