Tremendous strides have been made toward fulfilling methodist hospital's longstanding vision of seamless cancer care. We have restructured and refined clinical processes to achieve service line integration throughout inpatient and outpatient oncology services at methodist hospital and methodist estabrook cancer center.a major portion of cancer care involves surgery. The american cancer society confirms that most cancer patients will undergo some type of surgery - often a combination of preventive, diagnostic, curative or reconstructive procedures. Methodist hospital is nebraska's surgical leader both in volumes of cancer-related surgeries and in surgeries overall. Over the next few years, methodist hospital surgery renovation and expansion projects will transform the region's busiest and oldest operating rooms to expand and enhance surgical services. This project, a benefit to the community as a whole, is of particular significance to the oncology program.in 2012, the breast care center at methodist estabrook cancer center received a 3-year full re-accreditation from the national accreditation program for breast centers, a program of the american college of surgeons.at methodist hospital we unite all of our resources to join our patients in their fight against cancer in its totality. Our unique multidisciplinary approach is one of methodist's greatest strengths. Working together with the patient on the team, we focus a rare level of combined expertise to expand treatment options, improve outcomes and provide comfort and hope.in addition to providing standard treatments, the physicians at methodist estabrook cancer center have consistently showed active participation in cooperative study groups and pharmaceutical industry-sponsored clinical trials. The radiation oncologists are part of the radiation therapy oncology group (rtog) study group, which has spearheaded numerous trials for treatment of brain tumors.

Activity 3

Throughout our campuses, methodist is focusing on providing specialized care for women. With the only campus in the region dedicated to women's health, methodist is a leader in providing care to women from teenage years throughout their livesthere are many innovations built into our facilities and services designed for the safety and health of the women we treat. At our women's medical campus, we offer women a host of obstetrical, gynecological, outpatient laboratory services as well as emergency services and outpatient imaging for men, women and children.because our patient's health and safety is our number one priority, methodist women's hospital nurses have been trained to manage the most complicated situations in case of emergency. Every nurse on staff is certified in advanced cardiac life support (acls) to provide the clinical interventions necessary for urgent treatment of cardiac arrest and other medical emergencies. In addition, every nurse who works in a mother/baby, high-risk ob or labor/delivery unit is certified in advanced cardiac life support (acls-ob), specialized training for the emergency treatment of pregnant or newly delivered women.more babies are born at methodist women's hospital than any single hospital in nebraska, and its nicu treats more infants than any other in the area. The 36-bed level iii neonatal intensive care unit, the highest level nicu in west omaha, alleviates the shortage of beds in the region for at-risk babies.
