THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS RECEIVES AN ANNUAL REPORT ON THE USE OF THE FUNDS.UCARE HAS SPONSORED AND SUPPORTED LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICE SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM FOR OVER 15 YEARS. THE PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE ACROSS MINNESOTA AND ASSISTS OLDER ADULTS, SO THEY CAN REMAIN HEALTHY AND ACTIVE IN THEIR OWN HOMESFOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. COMPANIONS ARE TRAINED VOLUNTEERS WHO VISIT THREE TO FOUR HOURS PER WEEK TO OFFER SUPPORT, FRIENDSHIP, AND TRANSPORTATION IN THE COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM ADDRESSES MEMBER ISOLATION AND LONELINESS AS WELL AS ALLOWS ELDERS TO REMAIN LIVING IN THEIR HOMES INDEPENDENTLY.
