“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Redford Center Grants: Redford Center Grants provide development and production funds, story and networking support to filmmakers who understand the power of a well-told, well-timed story to inspire positive environmental change. Thanks to the support of the New York Community Trust, we launched our inaugural Redford Center Grants call in 2016 resulting in the selection of 7 grantee projects: feature length impact films covering a wide range of issues, including toxics, species, climate, S.T.E.M, desertification and social and environmental justice. Redford Center has renewed its Grants program for a second cycle in 2018, with another grant from the New York Community Trust that came in at the end of 2017.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Clean Energy Initiative: In November 2013, The Redford Center convened thought leaders across many disciplines to help refine the style and substance of our Clean Energy Innovation Project. Entering this gathering with a desire to help re-frame the moribund public dialogue on climate change solutions, we found a diverse array of stakeholders from Big Business and politicians to clean-tech start-ups and cutting edge marketing firms yearning for a more engaging message to better reflect the current state of affairs in clean energy: a reality that contains better pathways to hope and engagement. Better technologies are finally achieving better economics, resulting in a new energy gold rush that has the potential to blunt the full impact of climate change. Using our established documentary storytelling expertise and leveraging the Redford brand and networks, the Clean Energy Innovation Project is developing an expansive communications platform for this clean power movement. At the center of the effort is our film, HAPPENING: A Clean Energy Revolution which finished film production in October 2017 and immediately started a film festival tour. The film was then released in December 2017 on HBO. To-date, Happening has reached more than 1.5 million views in the US alone and has received worldwide distribution via HBO in 33 other countries.and it continues to receive calls and inquiries daily. Happening has been screened at 19 film festivals, which have included panel discussions, director talkbacks, and/or Q&A sessions. There are many organizations working in the clean power arena, and the purpose of Happenings impact and outreach campaign now is to bring our individual efforts together and broaden our collective success advancing the clean energy movement. The Redford Center has fielded inquiries, and provided screening licenses, support, and/or co-production to over 250 community and classroom screenings so far this yearand it continues to receive calls and inquiries daily. |
