And, ExtraFood launched its first refrigerated truck, enabling ExtraFood to pick up larger food donations and reach the West Marin coast, where there is disproportionate need. In delivering its 3 millionth pound of food in 2019, ExtraFood was recognized as one of four Heroes of Marin by the Pacific Sun. ExtraFood is ending hunger differently:- Leading a movement to change Marin's food system: from wasting food to donating it;- Sharing extraordinary resources of our community with our community: high-quality fresh food, and, in 2019, 10,000 hours of volunteer time; and- Expanding our nimble and responsive model as a long-term, renewable resource for Marin.ExtraFood uses financial gifts wisely and efficiently: Every $1 invested enables ExtraFood to share $4 worth of Marins fresh food with people in need.In 2019, ExtraFood's sixth year of operation, Extrafood made significant progress toward its first major goal: Enrolling every possible Marin business and school in its program, and rescuing every available pound of excess fresh food for Marins most vulnerable people. In partnership with so many across the county, ExtraFood's work in 2019 was another major step toward the day when all in our community have the food they need.”
