“An independent accounting firm prepares and reviews the 990. The 990 is then reviewed by the organizations accounting personnel. Any questions or concerns the organizations accounting personnel have are addressed and any corrections that need to be made are made. The 990 is then reviewed by the organizations executive director and any corrections or clarification that needs to be made are made. The final form 990 with all required schedules is then provided to all voting members of the board prior to filing the 990.”

“The conflict of interest policy for the family and community trust requires that all staff members, board members and volunteers disclose annually and in writing to the board of directors all conflicts of interest. Following full disclosure of a possible conflict of interest or any condition listed above, the board of directors shall determine whether a conflict of interst exists and, if so the board shall vote to authorize or reject the transaction or take any other action deemed necessary to address the conflict and protect facts best interests. Both votes shall be by a majority vote without counting the vote of any interested director, even if the disinterested directors are less than a quorum provided that at least one consenting director is disinterested. An interested board member, officer, or staff member shall not participate in any discussion or debate of the board of directors, or of any committee or subcommittee thereof in which the subject of discussion is a contract, transaction, or situation in which there may be a perceived or actual conflict of interest.”

“The mission of the family and community trust (fact) board is to promote and support effective public/private partnerships and community involvement to develop innovative solutions to achieve missouris vision for improving the lives of children and families.”

“Fact general operating: fact continues its use of the apricot computer operating system. The general operating funds for fact are used to provide licenses for the apricot system that is utilized by all the community partnerships and the fact staff. This system is used for budgeting, invoicing, and expenditure reporting. Through this system, we are able to track the community partnerships leveraged funding and volunteer hours, as well as all related financials. The community partnerships regularly leverage over $8.00 for every state dollar of funding in 2018 and generate over 250,000 hours of volunteer work across the state. They served over 500,000 clients. Fact continues to support the statewide reentry conference as one of three sponsors. This fall conference attracts over 350 participants each year. The fact executive director gives one of the keynote addresses and fact staff volunteer to help with the logistics of the three-day conference. Fact continues to support the technical assistance needs of community partnerships around the state as the needs are identified. Fact continues to support the work of the summer food program (sebtc) during summer 2018. This program was established with the support of two of the community partnerships: archs in st. Louis and linc in kansas city. The fact executive director assisted in the successful award of this grant by providing technical assistance and grant writing expertise. Funding was received to expand this initiative to the rural area of mississippi, new madrid, and pemiscot counties with greater success than 2017. Fact continues to support the work of the local chapter of zonta by supporting the annual women of achievement award. In 2018, we attended with 6 partner agencies. Fact continues to work with share our strength on the no kid hungry missouri inititative to connect kids to food in their commuities and wipe out childhood hunger in missouri within three years.”

“Kids count: fact completed its fifth year as the kids count grantee for missouri. The website was expanded to support this effort. Staff and responsibilities are now in place to support missouri kids count. The app developed last year will be the primary portal for access to all things related to missouri kids count.”

“Facts no kid hungry initiative hosted a series of hunger summits across missouri. These events provided learning opportunities for attendees about strategies to increase the availabity of and maximizing participation in our three targets: school breakfast, afterschool programs and summer meals/snack programs. Examples include: key note speaker at cape girardeaus annual conference, missouri youth innovation day, together at the table: hunger and proverty summit, no kid hungry youth engagement toolkit: mcp advisor meeting. Our "breakfast challenge" grant opportunities provided funding to support enhancement of schools breakfast after the bell and breakfast in the classroom efforts. More than 20 grants for a total of $54,000 were provided to schools to meet this challenge. Afterschool snack grants were awarded to 25 schools for a total of $67,072 and 30 grants were awarded for summer food programs in 2018 for a total of $128,859. No kid hungry continues to work with the state departments in the development of a strategic team to assist in the guidance of the work in missouri.”
