Mission

With the support of our community Access OC improves the health of the underserved by coordinating and providing access to high quality specialty care. Access OC links the working poor and medically underserved residents of Orange County to our community's medical specialists who donate their expertise to treat people in need. Access OC believes every person in our community should be healthy, productive and connected. We are delivering health care to Orange County residents suffering from untreated health conditions that may prevent them from working or participating in family life through our medical volunteer surgery days, health procedure education, support, transportation and care follow-up.

IRS990/Desc0Access oc is the only organization in Southern California providing volunteer specialty surgical care for people in need. The Outpatient Surgery Program coordinates the services of donated medical facilities and all of the volunteer medical professionals including surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and hospital staff. We screen medically qualify and educate patients before surgery so physicians can efficiently treat in-need patients. We coordinate transportation, post-surgery care and referral to supportive community-based organizations to ensure return to health. Access OC has facilitated over 35 Surgery Days as well as several colonoscopy screening and cancer prevention events. More than 550 clients have received needed treatment through donated medical services representing over $7 million in saved health care costs. We have realized impressive results to date: as a result of surgical procedures received through our program, 99 percent of patients have reported less pain, better health, greater ability to work, and enhanced well being; and 99 percent have reported no further need of medical care after surgery, including costly emergency care.

We are delivering health care to Orange County residents suffering from untreated health conditions that may prevent them from working or participating in family life through our medical volunteer surgery days, health procedure education, support, transportation and care follow-up.
