“Our program participants learn social, life and employment skills through their hands-on operation of a retail store that specializes in the manufacture, distribution and retail of scented candles. For many of our participants, this is the first time they have the responsibility, pride and sense of accomplishment of running a business. We have found that this empowerment has led to increased motor skills and cognitive function in their daily lives. In our second year, we had 13 participants enter our program.”
