“We created a strategic partnership this year with the jewish federation of broward and will serve on their committee for developing a housing community for adults with i/dd. We had two of our young adults graduate from the boost program at jewish family services and participated as activity consultants. We created a team building program for corporations including having our young adults as part of the program, which highlighted the benefits of hiring adults with intellectual disabilities.”
“To provide assistance with job training, employment, and housing to young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We incorporate a work, live, play model to empower them with social, employment, and life skills for future job placement and affordable housing, resulting in a productive lifestyle. Our core values are: everyone has unique abilities, choose a positive attitude, ask for help when you need it, be proud of your accomplishments, support and encourage your team, show gratitude, live with purpose.”
“To provide a workplace environment where we focus on the abilities of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and utilize their full potential to create beautiful artisan scented products. Our program participants learn social, life and employment skills through their hands-on operation of a retail store that specializes in the manufacture, distribution, and retail of scented candles. For many of our participants, this is the first time they have the responsibility, pride and sense of accomplishment of running a business. We have found that this empowerment has led to increased motor skills and cognitive function in their daily lives. With the pandemic, we expanded our online sales efforts and focused on both manufacuring and shipping in small groups to keep everyone safe. We also started a virtual party platform using facebook goups called "parties that make scents". We plan to continue using the virtual platform to increase our reach and build our customer base. We were honored to receive the "heart of the community" award in the city of coral springs for our work with this population and for showing the community the benefits of inclusion and diversity.”
“We have partnered with remarkable disability services (a virtual program for adults with i/dd) and started our shop with your heart program for other vendors that provide employment or job training to adults with i/dd. Every friday we host virtual parties, also setting up facebook group called "shop with your heart". We began with the program with 3 vendor and now are working with 30 vendors nationwide. The facebook group has over 1,700 members and is growing. As pioneers in this niche market, we are excited to offer additional sales opportunities and partership with other business starting to benefit those with i/dd.”
