The Pacific Grove Public Library Foundation was established as non-profit public benefit corporation under California law. The Foundation's purpose is to develop a source of long-term financial support for the Pacific Grove Public Library that will supplement, but not supplant, public funding for the library.

IRS990/Desc0Fiscal support: The Foundation reached agreement with the Library Director and Friends of the Library on funding levels for each entitys annual financial commitment and established a replicable process for making and agreeing upon these annual targets. The foundation provided $30,606 to the Friends of the Library and $12,182 for library renovation..Improving partnerships: The Foundation worked with the Friends of the Library to develop clarity about their relationship to each other and to the Library. An agreement was reached on fundraising responsibilities; better communication and coordination; and management, both joint and separate, of inflow of funds (donations, bequests, earnings, etc). The Foundation met with city officials to identify the limitations of funds held by city for the benefit of the library. The Foundation also had discussions with the Community Foundation for Monterey County on establishing funds at that organization to benefit from its professional management and consulting services.Board administration: The foundation board recruited three new members and reviewed its required policies to ensure that they remain current. New job descriptions were written and approved for Foundation officers.
