The primary purpose of licking downtown, inc is to educate the local community about grants/sources for improvements in licking, missouri. The public has benefitted because donations and grant monies were used for public and infrastructure improvements. Such improvements included but were not limited to sidewalks, lighting, and proper water drainage. Thereby, public safety and facility accessibility by disabled persons were be enhanced through these programs. In 2009, a local organization, licking betterment association, dissolved and transferred all of its assets according to missouri law to licking downtown, inc. The assets transferred included cash in the checking account and a historical building, the licking mill. The mill is a focal point in the community and the current year activities may include continued renovation, christmas lighting, historical and musical programs.
