The primary purpose of licking downtown, inc is to educate the local community about grants/sources for improvements in licking, missouri. The public has benefitted because donations and grant monies were used for public and infrastructure improvements. Such improvements included but were not limited to sidewalks, lighting, and proper water drainage. Thereby, public safety and facility accessibility by disabled persons were be enhanced through these programs. In 2009, a local organization, licking betterment association, dissolved and transferred all of its assets according to missouri law to licking downtown, inc. The assets transferred included cash in the checking account and a historical building, the licking mill. The mill is a focal point in the community and the current year activities may include continued renovation, christmas lighting, historical and musical programs. “Memorial park transfer to city -39,770 transfer of memorial park to city of licking, missouri land was donated in 2014 and construction of a permanent memorial park for the fallen was undertaken in that same year. Donations were received during 2014 and the park was dedicated in 2015. The park memorial includes area residents who were killed in action while serving in the military, as well as law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. All of these donations/details were disclosed in the organizations 2014 form 990ez. On december 18, 2015, the legal ownership of the park was transferred to the city of licking. Therefore, the accumulated costs of the park, including land value are adjusted from the organization's balance sheet and decreases the fund balance of the organization.”

THE PUBLIC HAS BENEFITTED BECAUSE DONATIONS AND GRANT MONIES WERE USED FOR PUBLIC AND INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS. SUCH IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDED BUT WERE NOT LIMITED TO SIDEWALKS, LIGHTING, AND PROPER WATER DRAINAGE. THEREBY, PUBLIC SAFETY AND FACILITY ACCESSIBILITY BY DISABLED PERSONS WERE BE ENHANCED THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS. IN 2009, A LOCAL ORGANIZATION, LICKING BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION, DISSOLVED AND TRANSFERRED ALL OF ITS ASSETS ACCORDING TO MISSOURI LAW TO LICKING DOWNTOWN, INC. THE ASSETS TRANSFERRED INCLUDED CASH IN THE CHECKING ACCOUNT AND A HISTORICAL BUILDING, THE LICKING MILL. THE MILL IS A FOCAL POINT IN THE COMMUNITY AND THE CURRENT YEAR ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE CONTINUED RENOVATION, CHRISTMAS LIGHTING, HISTORICAL AND MUSICAL PROGRAMS. IN CONJUNCTION WITH IMPROVING THE DOWNTOWN FOCUS ALONG WITH FOSTERING PATRIOTISM, THE ORGANIZATION HAS A PROGRAM TO DISPLAY FLAGS ON THE LIGHT POSTS THAT LINE THE DOWNTOWN AREA ON SPECIAL DAYS OF THE YEAR. A VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK PROJECT COMMENCED IN 2014 AND WAS COMPLETED IN 2015. THE PROJECT IS A PERMANENT MEMORIAL FOR INDIVIDUALS ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMMUNITY WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN SERVICE FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES AND THEIR COUNTRY. |

IN 2014, A PROJECT TO CONSTRUCT AND ERECT A PERMANENT MEMORIAL PARK FOR THE FALLEN WAS UNDERTAKEN. DONATIONS WERE RECEIVED IN 2014 AND THE PARK WAS DEDICATED IN 2015. PAVING BRICKS, BENCHES, AND VARIOUS MEMORIAL ITEMS WERE PART OF THE ACTIVITIES IN 2014/2015 TO MAKE THIS MEMORIAL PARK A REALITY. THE PARK MEMORIALS INCLUDE AREA RESIDENTS WHO WERE KILLED IN ACTION WHILE SERVING IN THE MILITARY, AS WELL AS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. |
