Mission

The primary purpose of licking downtown, inc is to educate the local community about grants/sources for improvements in licking, missouri. The public has benefitted because donations and grant monies were used for public and infrastructure improvements. Such improvements included but were not limited to sidewalks, lighting, and proper water drainage. Thereby, public safety and facility accessibility by disabled persons were be enhanced through these programs. In 2009, a local organization, licking betterment association, dissolved and transferred all of its assets according to missouri law to licking downtown, inc. The assets transferred included cash in the checking account and a historical building, the licking mill. The mill is a focal point in the community and the current year activities may include continued renovation, christmas lighting, historical and musical programs. THE PROCEEDS ARE USED FOR THE VARIOUS IMPROVEMENTS TO DOWNTOWN LICKING AND INCLUDES CONTINUED MAINTENANCE OF THE FLAG DISPLAYS ON THE DOWNTOWN LIGHT POSTS. THESE MEMORIAL FLAGS WERE PURCHASED THROUGH PRIOR YEAR DONATIONS AND THE ORGANIZATION ENSURES THAT THE FLAGS ARE DISPLAYED AT VARIOUS APPROPRIATE TIMES DURING THE YEAR IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA.-$1,245

A 3 on 3 basketball tournament is held annually at licking high school which brings in hundreds of people to downtown licking. The proceeds are used for the various improvements to downtown licking and includes continued maintenance of the flag displays on the downtown light posts. These memorial flags were purchased through prior year donations and the organization ensures that the flags are displayed at various appropriate times during the year in the downtown area.

Licking downtown continues to maintain the historic mill facility in an effort to revitalize downtown licking with various activities which include a fall festival with music and demonstrations. The mill building was transferred to this organization in 2009. The mill anchors downtown and is the largest tourist atraction in downtown licking. The 2013 activity included a haunted mill for halloween.

THE PROCEEDS ARE USED FOR THE VARIOUS IMPROVEMENTS TO DOWNTOWN LICKING AND INCLUDES CONTINUED MAINTENANCE OF THE FLAG DISPLAYS ON THE DOWNTOWN LIGHT POSTS. THESE MEMORIAL FLAGS WERE PURCHASED THROUGH PRIOR YEAR DONATIONS AND THE ORGANIZATION ENSURES THAT THE FLAGS ARE DISPLAYED AT VARIOUS APPROPRIATE TIMES DURING THE YEAR IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA.
