Activity 2

Touch therapy: the organization provides certification to volunteers and their own dogs to visit various healthcare facilities in the area. The touch program visited over 50,000 patients, residents, family members, and staff in over 75 sites in the st. Louis metropolitan area. Of the more than 50,000 patients, over 35,400 were adults and over 14,600 were children. Partnering with local hospice organization, touch volunteers donated over 275 hours to hospice patients in the st. Louis metropolitan community.

Activity 3

Paws for reading program: the organization provides additional certification to touch volunteers to bring their dog to classrooms and public libraries while using the dog as an incentive for children to read. The paws for reading program was active in 21 elementary classrooms, as well as the 13 full service branches of the st. Louis public library system. The program administered to over 8,500 children in the venues, ranging in age from 5-13. We participated in 129 fairs and educational presentations, reaching over 6,000 people directly and approximately 20,000 people indirectly through fairs.
