Activity 2

Wayside's family treatment program is a long term residential substance abuse and mental health treatment program for women at risk or involved with child protective services. This comprehensive family treatment services for both mom and her children and the kids up to 11 live on site with their mother while she receives treatment services. The counselors at the family treatment program understand the importance of assessing the stage of change that each individual client is at and using motivational interviewing techniques to help them travel along the continuum of change. Our approach to working with women is a non-confrontational, non-judgmental style. We focus on the relationship that exists between the counselor and the client. Healing takes places when genuine connection occurs in the relationship.

Activity 3

Wayside supportive housing is a safe, affordable permanent housing option for single women in recovery and their children. Twenty units (located in a residential neighborhood of st. Louis park) and four scattered-site apartments are available. The sober environment and the support of peers help women in recovery stay on track with sobriety. Wayside family advocates help each woman identify and pursue goals related to her health, her children, and self-sufficiency. On-site activities and groups for women, children, and families also support sobriety, build community and build personal strengths.
