Major Activities

Activity 2

Marketing is our largest investment area. We focus on showcasing the downtown as a destination for business, arts and liesure. Advertising ranges from image marketing to event marketing that draws thousands of visitors to our downtown. We use a variety of avenues including radio, digital billboard ads, valley transit bus ads, print ads, tv ads, kiosk and window displays, and social media. Our social media advertising includes email, eblast, a web page, facebook, twitter, linkedin, wordpress blog, tumbir, pinterest, google and you tube. We produce an annual downtown guide and distribute 25,000 of them to visitors and local residence. We also distributed 5500 summer pocket schedules, 3000 trolley brochures, and 12,000 seasonal bag stuffers. We also hosted the wisconsin downtown action council annual conference and hosted 21 travel writers who were treated to shopping, lunch, dinner and a show during their visit to downtown.

Activity 3

Downtown vitality through promoting and managing downtown events and promoting a clean, safe and friendly environment is another area that dominates our task list. Events generate foot traffic for the businesses and provide additional opporutnity to showcase the distirct. Our events typically generate dollars for the organization however some are strictly designed to drive traffic to the businesses and are not considered fundraisers. We hosted 101 events, some of which included the downtown summer and winter farmers market which featured up to 180 local and regional vendors, heid music summer concert series which featured the top local groups and put on 13 shows, and several parades such as the christmas parade, flag day parade and memorial day parade.
