Mission and Program Overview

Mission

At community action coalition for south central wisconsin, inc. (cac) our mission is to transform our communities by fostering conditions where everyone can achieve social and economic security. Cac exists to push back on poverty. Our organization was born out of the war on poverty, and that purpose motivates us to this day. But while we've been around for five decades, we're committed to evolving the way we work to help people live better lives. It's time for a new approach to housing security, food security and essential resources. We champion flexibility rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all solution. By working with our strong network, we identify specific needs within each of our three communities, and carry out a plan to generate the greatest impact. When we transform together, we create lasting change.

To transform our communities by fostering conditions where everyone can achieve social and economic security.

A draft of the 990 is submitted to community action coalition for south central wisconsin, inc.'s finance director for review. After satisfactory review, the draft of the 990 is presented to the finance committee which recommends approval to the full board. A copy of the 990 will be provided to the board of directors before filing with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The organization participates in and receives results from many comparability studies to make recommendations regarding wages for each position. The board of directors annually approves the compensation of the executive director.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon request. Instructions on the organization's website tell how to obtain the information.

The free clothing center was closed due to the pandemic and was replaced by a clothing voucher system where participants are able to contact the agency and receive a voucher from cac to obtain clothing from other resources.

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The process has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The intended use of the organization's endowment funds is to provide a reserve for future operations.

PART X, LINE 2:

Community action coalition for south central wisconsin, inc. (cac) is required to assess whether it is more likely than not that a tax position will be sustained upon examination on the technical merits of the position assuming the taxing authority has full knowledge of all information. If the tax position does not meet the more likely than not recognition threshold, the benefit of that position is not recognized in the financial statements. Cac has determined there are no amounts to record as assets or liabilities related to uncertain tax positions.

IRS990/MissionDesc0AT COMMUNITY ACTION COALITION FOR SOUTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN, INC.
