Activity 2

Health enhancements: we help people of all ages and abilities develop health in spirit, mind, and body is at the core of the ymca movement. Our programs are designed to aid health seekers pursue health and well being by creating realistic goals for self improvement and emphasize disease prevention through regular exercise, proper nutrition, stress management and health education. Sports programs for youth, families and adults promotes teamwork, interaction and development of social and physical skills. Our services are offered at affordable fees for the community at large, with reasonable accommodations for those with special needs, and with financial assistance available for those who cannot afford the full fee.our "twinges in the hinges" is an aquatic program that keeps seniors active and flexible; our family swim program gives adults and children shared time in the pool to appreciate one another and promote intergenerational relationships.in light of the rising obesity rates in this country, our ymca participates in the activate america initiative and engages in a variety of events and community activities designed to help the "at risk population" develop habits and relationships that lead to more active lifestyles.we facilitate opportunities to lead healthier lifestyles through each class, camp, special event and program. To different people "healthy" means a variety of different things. Good health is achieved through the synergy of a healthy spirit, mind and body. For some it comes through the variety of programs, services and small groups at our facilities. It may be bible study and book clubs, or yoga and team sports, or strength training and swim lessons. The depth and breadth of ymca programs also serve all ages: infants, pre-school, youth, adult, family and active older adults; all programs promote the desirable state of leading a healthy lifestyle through practice and education.be it spiritual, mental or physical, good health is found at the ymca either because the combined good of spirit, mind and body is greater than the sum of its parts or because it is simply found in the sense of community. The greater green bay ymca is a community. Belonging and being connected to something bigger than oneself is fuel for the human spirit.

Activity 3

Youth division: ymca youth and teen programs give kids good role models to help them develop self esteem and good values, including cooperation, respect, good citizenship and a strong work ethic. Our youth in government programs expose young people to civic leaders and help them develop an understanding and appreciation of civic involvement. Our service learning and environmental programs help our natural resources. Many programs are provided at no cost. Financial assistance is available for fee-based program, so a young person's economic circumstances are not a barrier to participation.the greater green bay ymca has many programs for the youth division. One strategic initiative for the greater green bay ymca is to help change the growing trend of youth inactivity and childhood obesity. Education, encouragement and modeling healthy behavior is important and necessary for the ymca to facilitate lifestyle changes in youth. There are a variety of programs offered to youth: food & fun, teen adventure programs, pre-school and youth gym and swim classes, dance classes, aquatic classes, gymnastics classes, gymnastics events and camps, martial arts, competitive swim classes, youth sport leagues, fitness and strength classes, baby sitting classes, special populations, 21st century child care, studio dance, competitive gymnastics, competitive swim team, sports classes, swim smart program, y klub, y nights, girl's night out, youth in government, sports power zone, family night and special events such as healthy kids day.we sponsored a healthy kids day and it was held off site at shopko hall. This signature event gave our community an opportunity to learn more about how to stay active, eat healthy, and engage in fun activities to help keep their kids and families healthy. It is rewarding to see the ymca help them in this pursuit and further reinforcement of how we build strong kids, strong families, strong communities, every day. The event was free to the participants and 1,800 children and 1,200 adults participated in this community event. There were free give aways and a drawing for bicycles for those who registered. The activities were: zumba demonstration and participation, tae kwon do demonstration, bike rodeo with the first 600 kids receiving free helmets, fitness video gaming, radio disney singing, dancing, games and prizes, health screening from area hospitals and clinics, large inflatable's, motivational speaker bill kazmaier (world's strongest man) and his demonstration of pulling a fire truck, presidential fitness testing, soccer and basketball skills with uwgb phoenix players, family run/walk, wild ones plantings, arts and crafts, make-your-own healthy snacks, face painting, bull frogs pitching, first tee golf, ymca dance and blizzard cheerleaders demo and participation, green bay jugglers entertaining and demonstrating, y-guy and other area mascots, fire truck and ambulance exploration, climbing wall, and k-9 unit demonstration.
