Graduate Instruction. Delivered 6,270 graduate student credit hours of instruction (one student credit hour represents 10 hours of instruction for one student). Awarded 126 Master's degres in 7 different programs.

Activity 3

Research. Top three projects: Development of the Agent Fate Appropriate Responses Operations Tools--a model/tool that affords the user the probabilities and risks associated with chemical and biological contamination event, and recommends the most appropriate response to mitigate the hazard. The AFAROT consist of 1) The completion of on-going research in agent/substrate transport/interaction models, 2) Integration of completed agent/substrate models with deposition, dispersion, toxicity, and response components of the overall tool, 3) Development and completion of a biological reaerosolization model for integration into the overall tool, and 4) Development and completion of a TIC/TIM (Toxic Industrial Chemicals and Toxic Industrial Materials) model for integration into the overall tool. Agent Fate Appropriate Response Operations Tool. This project supports the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's Joint Effects Model (JEM) program. It is intended to examine various models and model developments that can be integrated into a hazard prediction model or operations tool. 21st Century Renewable Fuels, Energy and Materials Initiative. Project Objective: (i) Research, develop and fabricate an improved high-temperature fuel cell membrane capable of low-temperature starts (<100oC) with enhanced performance. (ii) Research, develop and fabricate a 5kWe novel catalytic flat plate steam reforming process for extracting hydrogen from multi-fuels and integrate with high-temperature fuel cell systems. (iii) Research and develop improved oxygen permeable membranes for high power density lithium air batteries with simple control systems and reduced cost. (iv) Research and develop of novel high energy yield agriculture bio-crop (Miscanthus) suitable for fuel reformation with minimum impact on human food chain. (v) Extend math and science alternative energy educator program to include bio-energy and power.
