THE GOALS ARE IN THE AREAS OF EDUCATION/SCHOOL READINESS, FAMILY HEALTH AND WELL-BEING, FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, AND PROGRAM SUCCESS.THE PROGRAM HAS MET EACH BENCHMARK SET FOR THESE GOALS AND HAS BEEN ABLE TO INCREASE THEM EVERY YEAR. HEAD START WAS RECENTLY GIVEN THE SILVER CIRCLE AWARD IN THE EXCELERATE PROGRAM WHICH IS THE STATE'S QUALITY RATINGS SYSTEM.

FOR FY18 THE LIHEAP PROGRAM TOOK AND PAID A TOTAL OF 3,143 APPLICATIONS. THIS INCLUDES THE TIME PERIOD OF 7/1/17 THROUGH 6/30/18. THIS TOTAL INCLUDES 2,602 HOUSEHOLDS WHO RECEIVED REGULAR LIHEAP ENERGY ASSISTANCE (DVP) AND 541 WHO RECEVED RECONNECTION ASSISTANCE (RA). ALSO, SIX HOUSEHOLDS RECEIVED EMERGENCY FURNACE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. THE MAIN GOAL OF THE LIHEAP ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE NEEDED UTILITY RELIEF TO LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS IN THE FORM OF A PAYMENT MADE DIRECTLY TO THE UTILITY VENDOR ON THE CLIENT'S BEHALF. THE LIHEAP PROGRAM CONTINUES TO BE A VITAL PROGRAM SERVING THE LOW-INCOME. THE ONLY CHANGE TO THE WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS THE NUMBER OF HOMES COMPLETED DURING THE 7/1/17 THROUGH 6/30/18 TIME PERIOD. WE WEATHERIZED 46 HOMES.

THE PROGRAM PROVIDED EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE TO 43 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH THE EMPLOYEE SUPPORT PROGRAM TO HELP LOW-INCOME WORKERS OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT. THE CSBG PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDED 5-$1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOW-INCOME STUDENTS DESIRING TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION AT AN ILLINOIS ACCREDITED SCHOOL. THE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE COMPONENT OF THE CSBG PROGRAM PROVIDED SERVICES TO 80 FAMILIES FOR HELP WITH RENT, SECURITY DEPOSITS, UTILITY ASSISTANCE, HOME REPAIRS, MEDICAL/DENTAL ASSISTANCE, TRANSPORTATION AND HYGIENE ITEMS. THE CSBG PROGRAM PROVIDED $5,000 TO ASSIST THE BCMW PROJECT BREAD SENIOR MEAL PROGRAM. SIXTY SENIORS WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE EITHER A HOME DELIVERED MEAL OR A MEAL AT THE CONGREGATE SITE IN MARION COUNTY. THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SERVED 149 YOUTH DURING THE TIME PERIOD OF JULY 1, 2017 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2018. YOUTH PROJECTS ARE CONDUCTED IN EACH OF OUR 4 COUNTY SERVICE AREA TO INCLUDE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PROGRAMS, CAMPS, SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND FIELD TRIPS. INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES WERE PROVIDED FOR 1,046 INDIVIDUALS DURING THAT SAME TIME PERIOD. BCMW HAS TWO IHDA PROGRAMS: HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HAP) AND SINGLE FAMILY REHABILITATION (SFR). THE HAP PROGRAM PROVIDES HOME MODIFICATIONS IN THE FORM OF WHEEL CHAIR RAMPS, WALK IN SHOWERS, WIDENING DOORWAYS AND PUTTING UP GRAB BARS IN TUBS. THE SFR PROGRAM PROVIDES HOME REHABILITATION WORK TO BRING HOMES UP TO CODE STANDARDS.
