Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Tri-county opportunities council, as a charitable organization, is exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and similar provisions of state tax laws and has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under section 509(a)(2). In accordance with financial accounting standards board (fasb) asc 740-10 which addresses income taxes, the council believes there are no significant uncertain tax positions resulting in liabilities that would have been required to be recorded for the year ended december 31, 2015. The organizations form 990 for 2012, 2013, and 2014 are subject to examination by the internal revenue service (irs), generally for three years after they were filed.
