Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The institute is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code. The institute has adopted the provisions of accounting for uncertainty in income tax positions as required by the income taxes topic of the financial accounting standards board (fasb) accounting standards codification; however, management does not believe it is exposed to any such positions as they are defined in this guidance. The institute files form 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, annually with the united states department of treasury. Such returns are subject to examination by taxing authorities, generally for a period of three years from the date the returns are filed.
