Mission

Sandy Spring Athletic Association ("SSAA") is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, supervise, and voluntarily assist in providing a safe and secure recreational athletic environment for youth in the Greater Olney-Sandy Spring Maryland Region. Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, SSAA promotes youth programs that emphasize physical and emotional development, build self-esteem and cultivate a lifelong interest in sports, health, and teamwork by espousing the virtues and character, integrity, and sportsmanship. SSAA is dedicated to the development of youth and will encourage them to be exemplary people on and off the field.

We are dedicated to the all around development of young people and will encourage them to be better people, not just better athletes.

Before it is filed, a Draft copy of Form 990 is sent to each member of the board. The 990 is then reviewed by the Finance Committee, which consists of the Treasurer of the organization who is a Certified Public Accountant along with elected members from the board. Upon unanimous approval of the draft 990 by individuals noted above, and after addressing any concerns and/or other input from the full board, Form 990 is filed with the I.R.S.

The Organization's Form 990 and Form 1023 are available by request. The Form 990 is also available on other websites such as www.guidestar.org. In addition, the Form 990 is on file with the State of Maryland Charities Division of the Secretary of State where a copy can also be obtained. IRS990/MissionDesc0The Sandy Spring Athletic Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, supervise, and voluntarily assist in providing a safe and secure recreational athletic environment for young people in the greater Ashton-Olney-Sandy Spring Maryland region. Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership we will promote programs that emphasize physical and emotional development, build self-esteem and cultivate a lifelong interest in sports, health and teamwork by espousing the virtues of character, integrity, and sportsmanship. We are dedicated to the all around development of young people and will encourage them to be better people, not just better athletes.
