To fulfill our mission, the progams we offer enhance the quality of life. Additional programs provide education for individuals and families through Options Counseling, Aging and Disability Resource Center, Lunch n' Learns, Chronic Disease Management, Medicare Counseling, Financial Literacy, and more.

“Weatherization - (expenses 500,463, including grants of 154,939)- families whose income is below 150% of the poverty level are provided with energy conservation measures to lower fuel consumption and expenses. 23 homes were made more safe and energy efficient. Nutrition - (expenses 2,896,516, including grants of 22,510) - provides low-cost nutritious meals, with recreational activities and informational programs, in centers in st. Joseph, elkhart,laporte, marshall, and starke counties. 255,590 nutritious meals were made,delivered, and enjoyed by 4,452 older adults throughout the region. Donated facilities valued at 122,622 were received but not included in the above expenses. Home and and community services - (expenses 915,111, including grants of 305,297) - served 28,752 individuals through community action programs focused on housing stability, financial empowerment, and basic needs. Services included utility assistance to 26,476 individuals, rental assistance to 1,487 individuals, housing stability case management to 252 individuals, participation by 23 individuals in the ida matched savings program, 68 individuals served through the family development program, and 85 individuals participating in financial literacy education. Area agency on aging - (expenses 1,063,318) - provides a variety of services to older adults in a five-county area. Served 13,268 individuals through aging network coordination, information and options counseling, and protective services. This included 8,230 individuals who received information and assistance through the aging and disability resource center and 43 individuals protected through the adult guardianship program. Foster grandparents - (expenses 222,424) - provides an opportunity for low-income persons 55+ to give supportive person-to-person service to children with special or exceptional needs. Engaged 30 foster grandparents who provided mentoring and support to 119 children in schools, head start programs, and daycare settings, contributing 19,369 hours of service during the program year. Transportation - (expenses 400,517) - provides escort and transportation services to older adults to necessary appointments. Provided transportation services to 285 older adults, delivering an average of 630 trips per month to medical appointments, grocery stores, and other essential destinations. Guardianship - (expenses 258,427) - serves the interests of older adults being abused or exploited. Served as court-appointed guardian for 43 incapacitated adults, providing oversight and advocacy to ensure safety, housing stability, healthcare access, and protection of individual rights. Alzheimer's and dementia services - (expenses 414,720) - provides education and services for families and individuals with alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Provided education, support, and direct assistance to 8,554 individuals across the region, including 1,475 caregivers who accessed consultations, helpline support, and family sessions; 1,147 caregivers who participated in support groups; and 5,932 community members reached through outreach and dementia education programs. Home health care - (expenses 2,737,029) - provides home health care to elderly and disabled individuals so that they may live in their homes. Provided 43,018 units of service.”

“We recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. Examples of tax positions include our tax-exempt status and positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income.
